I am not one to see all the new movies. We do a lot of renting, and even still I manage to miss many movies that everyone is talking about. This summer, I have seen most of the big hits. Its nice to be able to participate in current movie talk. I am a tough critic, but here are my thoughts, without giving anything too important away.
1. Sex and the City: LOVED it! I went to a late night show on opening day with a few of my girlfriends and 2 hours has never gone by more quickly. I can tell you, that I still hate Big, and somehow I can't stay mad at Steve. This will be on my buy-it list and I plan to watch it again asap when it comes out on DVD. If you followed the series AT ALL, its a must see. I do think they left it open toa sequel... now we can just all keep our fingers crossed :)
2. Get Smart: Starring Steve Carell, Anne Hathaway, Duane (the Rock) Johnson. I liked it. I don't know if I would have seen it if Steve Carell wasn't involved. I don't much care for Anne Hathaway (sorry, she just seems snobby to me). It wasn't as funny as I thought it would be but it is almost like a less serious Bond. It was a little predictable and not too intense. A decent movie, worth seeing.
3. Hancock: Starring Will Smith, Charlize Theron. I love Will Smith. Anything that he is in I find worthwhile. The character of Hancock was not your typical superhero. He is a social deliquent who stops crime because the criminals make him angry... "call me an *#$hole ONE more time..". I found the movie to be funny and enjoyable with just enough action to keep you intruigued. There is a twist in the story, which I actually figured out. This was a bit controversial in the reviews, but I liked where it took the storyline. I like superhero movies and Hancock was no exception. Will Smith is yet to make a movie I have not enjoyed.
4. WALL-E: ehhhh. I think it was overrated and hyped up. It wasn't BAD, I just expected a lot more out of it. Its on the low end of the Pixar movie scale in my opinion. It is a slow moving movie and did not hold my attention. The storyline itself is well thought out, but Alan and I both had the same cynical comments at the end. There is very little dialouge, since the two main characters are robots, and I am not sure why there was one human actor in the movie... it didn't really make sense. The best part for me was the short cartoon before the movie.
Movies that I can't wait to go see:
1. The Dark Knight. I am going to try to get Batman Begins in first and I have tried not to listen to all the Heath Ledger hype. I love Batman movies and I am sure this one will live up to the high standards of the series.
2. Step Brothers. Even if the laughs are shameless and stupid, its going to be funny. John C Reilly and Will Farrell can't make a movie together that ISN'T funny, so I am looking forward to this one as well.
3. Indiana Jones. As much as I have been fighting it, I will be happy to watch it as a rental. I am just very leery of any series that makes another film after taking so many years off. I have also hear that there is a strong sci-fi aspect to it, and that is just not my thing, so we'll see.

Batman was fantastic. Wall-E was like my favorite movie of the summer so far. I liked the lack of dialogue, but I really found Wall-E and EVE to be engaging...especially their love story. I really thought it was probably one of the most genuine stories of innocent love in awhile. I also liked the social commentary of what happens when people get lazy, and trash the earth. So, yea, sorry, have to disagree with you on Wall-E (and Pete agrees too!) so there! hehe
I also liked the love story aspect. It was very genuine and sweet.
