So crafty!

Who knew I could be so crafty? Well, I guess I have my moments (like those damn wedding invitations...). Anyhow, remember my "day after" dress that I wore to take some photos in Costa Rica? If not, here's a refresher:
(Not the best picture to show off the dress, but it is one of my favorites). It is a white, silk dress from JCrew, with a small train. I found it on ebay specifically to take these photos, (because I wasn't about to pay $300 for something and roll around in the sand and sea with it), but I loooove it and didn't think I would have another opportunity to wear a long white dress with a train.
So... after getting it clean from playing in the sand, having an ordeal with the dry cleaner (who almost ruined it), and still not coming up with any place that would be appropriate to wear it again; I decided to fix it up to be a "new" dress that I could wear again. My mom shortened it and I dyed it "navy" blue.
It obviously didn't come out to be navy, but I like the color that it has become... somewhere between purple and blue. Now, its back to mom to fix the lining that is peeking out from under the hem (which I may have made worse since the Rit company says you are not supposed to dye "dry clean only" materials). I am proud of this effort and hope that the debut of my "new" dress in a few weeks at a wedding is favorable :)
